Who We Are - A Little On Our History
We are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and have over 21 years experience in dealing with tax and accounting matters. We regularly attend technical courses in order to keep our tax knowledge up to date. We offer our services to private individuals, sole traders, partnerships and limited liability companies and partnerships.
The Early Years
The principal partner gained his Honours degree in business and finance back in 1983 from Glasgow Caledonian University. Having then decided on accountancy he joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1984 to do his formal training.While going through training, Derek managed to get his golf handicap down to a respectable number and picked up a few trophies along the way!
Derek still has a keen interest in golf although his handicap is creeping up, and also enjoys the occasional game of squash and badminton.
Insolvency Experience
At the time of qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 Derek was working in the insolvency department dealing with various types of businesses. These included retailers, hotels, restaurants and manufacturing companies and gave him a broad range of business skills and expertise.A spell in industry followed after qualifying and experience was gained in manufacturing of plastics products and in the wholesaling of pharmaceuticals.
Fields & Co. CA is Born
The variety and excitement of businesses that Derek had been involved with was a key factor in his decision to start up his own accountancy practice and Fields & Co CA was born in 1992 and has gone from strength to strength.Our firm has over 21 years experience in dealing with tax, accounting and business matters. We regularly attend technical courses in order to keep our tax knowledge right up to date.
